I did not put the spring loaded extra hinge. It was too stiff and hard to use. The ordinary hinges that came with it for lid was plenty. I love this bench!Works great as a bench at the foot of my bed. Gives me some extra storage and a place to sit when I put on shoes! Assembly was easy, for the most part. Some of the pre-drilled holes were not actually drilled enough, and that caused a bit of frustration and some cussing! And the safety bracket on the lid did not fit properly, so the lid would not close completely on one end. I removed it, and lid closes fine. All things considered, I'd still recommend it. Good value for the money.Good priceI love the look, rustic! Great combination of colors. Very comfy. Good storage space.Good sturdy bench. The only issue is attaching the top. There are small pilot holes for the screws but they are hard to see. Make sure you attach the hinge to the top first so make it slightly easier.This was a good purchase for the money. The hinge was poorly made and I could not even use it at all, not a huge deal but disappointingScrews were too short to go into in grain pressed wood and can be easily stripped. Felt a need to replace the packaged screws with 2 1/2 screws.It would be easier if two people assembled the bench, especially when installing the lid.There was no way to attach the seat to the bench we’re very disappointed; can’t send it back. We should get a refund.It was pretty easy to put together, make sure you are using the correct screws, double check the instructions cuz I didn’t double check and I ended up using the longer screws on the sides and the screws went threw the sides on both sides, I made 4 holes on the inside where there shouldn’t be holes, I just filled them with wood filler and it’s on the inside so you can’t see it. Also the hinge on the inside I couldn’t get it to close so When I attached it the lid stayed open, I took off the hinge so when I open it I just have to hold it open, also when installing the screws make sure you don’t tighten them really tight, one of the thin boards I created a small crack when I tightened it too much, but you can’t see it and it hasn’t caused any issues or gotten any worse. Despite my little issues I like the look of this chest, I have it at the end of my bed and have extra clothes in it, it looks great.This was intending for a gift and the item was not as expected and therefore returned. Irregardless, and although I am an Amazon Prime member, I was charged a RETURN SHIPPING FEE of $92.95CA without notification prior to this return. Otherwise I would have merely kept this item. Very unfair and unsettling.Was very easy to put together; very sturdy!! and holds lots - winter gear like mitts, etc. Also great to sit on while putting shoes on.... or for the dog to jump up on to look out the window. Absolutely no issues with it yet. It is a bit high so if you're short, to sit on it to do shoes, it's a little too tall, but great overall.Fits the space I wanted it for perfectly! It was easy to assemble (did it myself in about 30 min) and instructions were very straightforward. Feels sturdy enough to be an entryway bench and the storage capacity is great for storing my kids’ sweaters, hats and winter gear.
